第２戦隊　「扶桑」（ふそう）

　その特異な艦橋のシルエットが独特の風貌と造形美を醸し出している、隠れた人気の高い「扶桑」が完成しました。右舷正面から艦全体を見ると、アバンギャルドともいえる艦橋構造の複雑さがよく分かります。
　また３６ｃｍ連装砲塔が６基あって、２基が煙突をはさんで艦中央部にあるのですが、居住性の悪さや発砲したときの排煙による悪影響等が推測されます。

The super-dreadnought type battleship FUSO which bridge has a specific silhouette is just released. The design of this battleship has an eccentric and original formation beauty. When I see the whole ship head-on the starboard, I can understand well the complexity of the bridge structure that is the so-called "avant-garde".
There are 6 turrets of 36cm twin gun cannons. And 2 of them are in both sides of a chimney which is in the ship center. From this arrangement, the heavy influence of the fired smoke of cannons or bad habitability are conjectured.

　乾舷が低いせいか、艦橋の高さが目立ちます。艦橋そのものは案外幅が小さかったようです。
　張り線はいつもの通り０．０３７ｍｍφ鮎釣り用金属釣り糸を使用、外舷色はグンゼ産業から製品化されている「呉工廠色」で塗装しています。
　艦尾の搭載水偵は９５式水偵で、定数は３機でした。昭和１６年４月２０日に撮影した、出師作業中の応急注排水装置試験の写真では、この３機が艦尾に窮屈に繋止されています。

Because the ship's side is low the height of the bridge is conspicuous. The width of the bridge is unexpected small. The 3 air crafts of the stern are Nakajima E8N2 type95 reconnaissance floatplanes. The 3 floatplanes are tied rigidly on the stern in the photograph of the drainage device test at the battle preparation work on April 20, in Showa 16.
