第２１戦隊　多摩（たま）＜キスカ撤退作戦時仕様＞
21S "TAMA" as the Kiska Evacuation Operation.

　５，５００トン型軽巡洋艦「多摩」のキスカ撤退作戦（ケ号作戦）時仕様です。「多摩」は開戦直前の１２月に僚艦の「木曾」とともに迷彩塗装され、日本海軍艦艇としては異彩を放っていますが、この迷彩塗装はミッドウェイ・アリューシャン作戦の直前の昭和１７年５月末に廃止されました。ですから、昭和１７年６月以降の「多摩と「木曾」はもとの外舷色一色に戻っています。「多摩」は開戦時横須賀鎮守府所属で、外舷色は横須賀工廠色でＯＫです。ちなみに「木曾」は、舞鶴鎮守府所属でした。
　なおこの「多摩」は、２０００年１１月１８〜１９日に開催されたニフティ模型フォーラム展示会用に製作したものです。

TAMA , the light cruiser of 5500-ton class appear on the stage. I made this TAMA from a TAMIYA's kit with the specification of the Kiska Evacuation Operation.
TAMA painted camouflage coating along with KISO of comrade vessel in December before outbreak of Pacific War. This camouflage is unique among all IJN naval vessels. But this camouflage coating was abolished at the end of May, in Showa 17 in immediately before of the Midway & Aleutians strategies. Therefore, in June, in Showa 17 subsequent TAMA and KISO have returned to original warship color. At the time of outbreak of war, TAMA was Yokosuka naval district assignment. The color of the ship is Yokosuka arsenal color. Incidentally KISO was Maizuru naval district assignment.
Well, this TAMA is the work that produced for the NIFTY model forum exhibition that was held in 2000 year November 18 to 19 days.

　この「多摩」の仕様は、キスカ撤退作戦時なので昭和１８年７月末ということになります。昭和１７年時の詳細な公式図面及びそれをもとにした図面がいくつかありますので、これらの図面を忠実に再現すれば比較的容易にディテールアップを行うことが可能です。昭和１７年の図面からの変更点があるかどうか調べましたが、特に昭和１８年７月末までは変化なかったようです。
　私は、艦橋トップに２１号電探が存在するか否か、そして２５ｍｍ連装機銃が増設されたかどうかを少し調べて見ました。ERIC LACROIX & LINTON WELLS �Uの「JAPANESE CRUISERS OF THE PACIFIC WAR」によりますと、「多摩」がこれらを増設したのは昭和１８年１０月以降に横須賀工廠で修理をした時らしく、キスカ撤退作戦の時は、開戦時の装備のままであったようだということがわかりました。

It assumed that the specification of this TAMA when she was asigned to the Kisuka Evacuation Operation was in the end of July, in Showa 18 .
There are several drawings on the basis of the official drawing at the time of Showa 17. So, it is easily possible to do a detail up if you make on the basis of these drawings faithfully. Although I checked whether there were any change points from the drawing in Showa 17, it did not seem to have changed until the end in July, in Showa 18.
Furthermore, I checked whether the Type 96 25-mm twin machine gun were extended more, and whether the No.21 radar were fitted on top of the bridge.
According to "JAPANESE CRUISERS OF THE PACIFIC WAR" of ERIC LACROIX & LINTON WELLS �U, TAMA extended these equipments in October, in Showa 18 when she was repaired in the Yokosuka arsenal. It became clear that the main specification of TAMA when she was asigned to the Kisuka Evacuation Operation was the same form as at the time of outbreak of war.

　やはりこのアングルからのショットが好きなのですが、こう見てみるとクラシックなフォルムの５，５００トン型軽巡洋艦もまたオツなものです。張り線を張りまくってやると、クラシックさがより引き立つように思います。シェルター甲板下に支柱をつけたのですが、画像からは全く見えていません。

The shot that showed under is my favorite angle. From seeing this photograph, I understand that the 5500-ton class light cruisers are elegant in their classic form. I think classic form improves more when stretched all the tension lines.
Although the props are attached under the shelter deck, we are not able to recognize the props at all from this photograph.
A little bit regrettable !!
