　艦首、艦橋部分と艦中央部そして艦尾を順々にアップしてみます。
　まず艦首ですが、S字バウのフォルムを再現しました。製作記にも述べた波切り板も追加してあります。

The bow, bridge part, ship central and the stern are focused on with the photographs below. First of all I take up the bow form as a topic. The form of S character bow is reproduced. Even the wave limit board that expressed to production description has been added.

　艦橋は、真珠湾攻撃の時に左舷斜め前から艦橋を大写しにした有名な写真をもとに製作しています。キットのパーツを一部使い、上部はスクラッチしました（詳しくは製作記をご覧下さい）。
　艦橋の中及び見張所の中には、０．２ｍｍφ真鍮線と０．５ｍｍφプラ棒で作った双眼鏡を取りつけてあります。

The bridge is made (semi-scratched) on the basis of the famous photograph taken close-up from the front port at the time of Pearl Harbor attack. Using a few parts of a kit, the upper part was scratched (see production description for details).
I have installed binoculars in the bridge. These binoculars are made by a 0.2mmφ brass rod and a 0.5mmφ plastic stick.

　ダビッドやデリックを全てエッチングパーツに換装しましたが、大きさがちょうど良く、より精密な感じになると思います。水偵用カタパルトは、Tom's製ではなくファインモールドのものを使いました。こちらの方がより実物に近いでしょう。
　なお、５，５００ｔ型軽巡は各艦ごとに内火ランチ用ダビットの取り付け位置が異なり、しかもダビットの付け根が舷側にあります。キットではこの点は再現されていませんので、キット付属のカッター用ダビットより一回り大きなダビットをエッチングパーツの中から選択し、舷側に取り付けてやる必要があります。

Because the photo-etched parts were released well timing, all of davits, derricks and crane are replaced to the photo-etched parts. Also, I think that size becomes just good and more precise when using the photo-etched parts. The FineMold company's parts of catapult for the seaplane are rather suitable than Tom 's.
Furthermore, as for 5,500t type LCs, the attachment position of davittfor motor boat differ every each ship. The root of davit is in a ship's side also. This point is not considered at all in the kit and please pay attention.

　手すりとラッタルはエッチングパーツを使用。煙突の雨水除けカバー、方位測定儀、、後マストのヤード、艦尾信号燈は、０．２ｍｍφ、０．２５ｍｍφ、０．３ｍｍφ真鍮線で作ってあります。艦尾ダビッドはエッチングパーツです。
　後マストの形状、探照燈の位置と数、艦尾信号燈の取り付け位置等は、前記「海軍艦艇史」やハンディ版「日本海軍艦艇写真集」をもとに製作しました。これらの形状や位置は、各艦によって微妙に異なっていますので注意が必要です。

I used the photo-etched parts for the handrails, ladders and stern derricks. I made the funnel frames for canvas cover and goniometer antenna with a 0.2 mmφ brass rod. I made the yard of both masts, manoeuvring lights with a 0.25mmφ and 0.3mmφ brass rod.
The form of back mast, the position and number of search lights and the position of stern signal light etc. were made in reference to the above-mentioned "Naval Vessels History" and handy version "The Japanese Naval Vessels Photograph Collection".Please pay attention because these forms and position are subtly different by each ship.

　完成した「阿武隈」を「鬼怒」と並べて、昭和17年2月にスターリング湾に終結したという想定によるジオラマにしてみました。この作品は２００１年東武タミヤモデラーズコンテストに出品し、入賞させていただきました。
　同じ「長良」型ですが、「阿武隈」と「鬼怒」「長良」「名取」はかなり細部が異なっています。それぞれをこうやって並べて、比較して見るのも一興でしょう。このジオラマの隠れたコンセプトが、この”比較”というモチーフです。

Arranging finished work of ABUKUMA and KINU, I tried to make the diorama. This diorama assumes the situation of the Stallings bay meeting in February, in Showa 17. This work was displayed for the TOBU-TAMIYA modellers contest in 2001 and won a prize.
Although they belonged all same type category , ABUKUMA had the details that differed fairly in comparison with KINU, NAGARA and NATORI, It may be interesting to compare each ship. My diorama concept, one of the motif is this "comparison".
